Felting is an ancient and at the same time very modern craft!
First of all, it can be said that all animal hair, which has a flaky fibrous structure, can be combined with pressure and moisture to form a closed surface. This process is called felting.
The word felt comes from Middle High German and means “mashed mass”. (Source: G. Sjöberg, Felting) Today, when we talk about felt, we usually mean wool felt. Felt is always the end product of the felting process, in which sheep wool is “felted” with the help of water, soap and pressure.
